A good mate in South Africa changed his MG ZT engine over to a Nissan Turbo. He had to change the gearbox and then the tuning was completed by an F1 racing specialist.......the whole process involved custom made parts so that everything would fit. It took 5 months and the cost was £6000. He lived to see the project completed, sadly he was killed by a hit n run drunk. Forum member: RIP Woodgoat
It certainly is a massive undertaking Phil.
It would be much cheaper to buy a ready built ZR to go racing

But Thomas does love his 75s

Cheers Ian

Thomas ... Thank you for replying to a question.

You may remember that you have asked for advice about the 'gage' problem on another thread . ....... Which is still open . If you have solved it , then please tell us so, on the thread that posed the problem . Otherwise well meaning members may be wasting their time suggesting solutions for you.

It is annoying when this happens .. you are not the only one by any means .

As my time is 50 times more valuable than yours I will now leave you to your restorations , and not wait for the answers to my other questions .

Omega .

Do you have any info/pictures of the ZT. I think i remember reading about it on .org, would be good for more info.
Many Thanks.
Thanks, it’s been a few years since Willie passed on. His son inherited the ZT and yes, there were photos. I do not have them. I seem to remember that Willie spoke with Kaiser for technical advice about the transplant and he would know more about it than I do. If you search for Woodgoat in the club’s archives you could find the photos etc, in there. It was one of those jobs that took a lot of doing, many many hours and required perfection to get it right. It’s not for someone with multiple projects like Thomas, but what do I know

Hi Ian, your point makes sense. I am not being funny or provocative, but doesn’t a driver have be a certain height to be able to see over the wheel to drive a race/rally car.

No. Age restrictions maybe. If the seat wasn't high enough to let the driver see properly the car would probably fail scrutineering. There are lots of vertically challenged race drivers - most Formula 1 drivers, for example.

Of course you need to be able to see through screen but as far as I'm aware other than that there is no minimum height
For instance here's a very small lad with a very famous grandad that made his racing debut a couple of years ago

In most race series you need to be of driving age (17 in the UK of course) but some classes are aimed at youngsters and they can take part in full blown circuit racing at 14 years old and even younger in some short circuit classes.

Cheers Ian

You can race Ministox from the age of 11 up to 15

http://www.nationalministoxclub.co.uk/index.htm

Might be a little late for you to get involved though Thomas

Nice but not wholly convinced you can get 530 gee gees through a normally aspirated pair of Su's ...

300 BHP ish with throttle bodies and full house forged steel internals at 3.9 litres.
I think 190-200 max is the best you can hope for from a 3.5 on SUs.. Remember the standard 3.5 was only about 160 BHP.. when I had my V8 I was often left eating the dust of Golf GTis and Astra GTEs.

Cheers
