Idiots guide to checking rad fan speeds
So as above,
I have a 53 plate zt190 with 86K on the clock with the early 3 speed rad fan which when I first got a couple of years ago was T4'd by Trikey and all 3 speeds were working, now I'm not sure if the low speed is, If Trikey was not away on his hols I would arrange for a T4 session to be absolutely certain, can someone explain to me an Idiot proof way to see if the low speed has failed so that if I need to I can get it sorted out, there is some urgency as I will be doing a Monte Carlo run on the 16th of August and I don't fancy running without low speed, on the other hand I don't want to spend money if it's all in my head and I don't have to |

Is that with the panel completely off or just 'econ' does the engine need to be running?

That depends upon how long your slow speed has been out of action. Referring to Arctic's excellent pictorial guide, remove the motor end plate and you will see the four brushes. If they are all still in their holders and the commutator is not chewed to pieces then new brushes is all you need (approx £20).
A replacement Jules fan is £200 I believe and requires careful electrical connection to the control box. Simon

Well to be honest, it was all working when Trikey used his T4 on it but because the gas was low/none existant I've always run it on 'econ' until about 6 weeks ago when I had it regassed and it's not done a lot of miles since then so hopefully I might have dodged the bullet.
