Gavin Williamson sacked
Well now we know who leaked to the Telegraph.
Personally I think he was correct to be concerned at what was being agreed. The fact that he is Defence Secretary speaks volumes. What monumental mess! |

Leaks ..... Please can somebody explain to me whats going on ?
So there is a leak of a cabinet decision.. yes probably a bad thing . But the actual content of the leak .. that a chinese company is going to build part of our new faster broadband system ..... The company has been decided on by the cabinet, so eventually the news must come out . Whats the problem ? Are they ashamed or frightened ? |

In this case May seems to have overruled real concerns of her cabinet and our allies in the world as the company concerned is Chinese with clear connection to their somewhat dubious government. It seems another example of May’s excruciatingly bad management. I have enormous sympathy for this guy as I think it will proved he is putting his country first before his career. |

More where it came from, the National security council meeting. Leaks from cabinet have happened since the year dot, that's just the way it is. But leaking from NSC is a big no no. Whatever happens there and is said stays there. It's where all the very high level stuff is spoken about and told to government ministers. If this goes unpunished then it'll be a green light for people to leak as they see fit. Whether he did it or not I don't know but someone will get done over this and rightly so. |

I have no sympathy whatsoever for him. He's been a rank Defence Secretary and the replacement ain't much better. Mind you we haven't had a decent one for decades.

Perhaps we can now learn his logic in wishing to send our plane-less carrier all the way to frighten China. Does anyone think that would help the situation? (And wonder how much this steel antidiluvean costs to steam per mile: just one £100K Exocet would sink it I believe )

I don't believe it- Theresa Cant/Wont/Didn't is not a person I would believe if she stood on my doorstep with a handful of £20 B of E notes telling me they were my winnings!! Chris.S.

Fair play to Desmond Swayne - today in the HoC he ripped into the front bench saying that the evidence of wrongdoing should be examined openly so that the accused can either have hi reputation destroyed or retained.
His obvious disgust at (his own) front bench was clear for all to see. |
