Default Smoke alarms etc

Plenty of helpful folks on here so thought I’d ask if you’d have any recommendations for smoke/fire/carbon monoxide alarms?
Been looking at amazon and online etc but there is many different names etc and a vast array of reviews.
The long life 10 year ones don’t appear to be as good as they say with failing batteries etc so happy to have replaceable ones for now.

We live in a thatched house and when the next door neighbour had a chimney fire the fire brigade paid us a visit.

They updated our smoke alarms and increased the quantity and fitted this type.

They use conventional 9v batteries.

I think that the Ei Electronics brand must be okay, if the fire brigade are using them.

I work for a fire service in the NW and we fit the sealed 10 year Fireangel alarms.

I have them in my house and they seem ok, although I've only had them in for about 12 months so far.

Used this type in holiday accomodation for many years work well..
Good idea to make a note on your calendar/mobile of when you installled it.. Test it at least once a week and change the battery using a premium make every year..

I have the same Ian, I wired in a clever little relay to one of the intruder alarm sensor circuits, so if a smoke detector is triggered, it closes the intruder alarm circuit, would sure wake me up alright. I bought really good ones, been in over 20 years and still test and work a treat. The only one upstairs is on the landing, but I put a Fire Angel in each bedroom. Because there was/is so much electronics in kids bedrooms then and now, I fitted a remote control anti surge socket bank, so when daughter was ready to go to sleep, she could remotely shut off everything plugged into the wall sockets.

I could just imagine a battery sensor going off in the garage, and I was upstairs with my headphones on, first thing I would know about it, is when the fire service was breaking down the door.

Cannot put a price on this stuff.

so many people don't have smoke detectors and some even remove the batteries. When you hear a report on a fire it is ways the batteries were removed I just hand my head in disbelief.

Angry

Did anyone else note the report on the TV that "normal" smoke alarms DO NOT wake up the children.

Wrong frequency of sounder!

Industry say they knew this and do have alternatives, only problem is they do not tell you!! (Until now)
