Shame, you could always find items not available in other shops.

Not so bothered about toys r us (although I feel for all the employees), but Maplins is a real shame. Hopefully they can find a buyer who can restructure the business.

They were/are eye wateringly expensive mind you so I'm not incredibly surprised

There must be an audience for a decent 'big boys toys' type shop though? The great thing about Maplins was that you could pop in for a mooch when the Mrs disappeared into Next/TK Max for a fortnight.....more often than not you wouldn't buy anything because of the prices but I will miss them as well.

Talks with a potential buyer have failed and they've gone into administration.

maplins, a place where you could go on the high street for electronic parts.
Cant thing of anyone else on the high street that does the same stuff.

my sympathy for the staff of both stores

I wonder if there are any good deals to be had

I agree, though the barrage from young staff, the moment you entered the door, asking "how they can help", sometimes four of them between the front and back of store, did put me off.

The only place I knew I could get a resistor or capacitor.
