Worrying trend???
Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but every time I look, the people viewing the technical help section is by far the greater over any other section.
Hope this isn't a reflection on the reliability of our chosen steeds!

It's always been like that, it's what people join the forum for in the first place. If everything ran perfect, there'd be no posts

Hi Jason.
I would say most people read the tech threads to learn from others, even though their car is running nice, forewarned is forearmed as they say, prior knowledge of possible dangers or problems gives one a tactical advantage

Totally agree with Arctic.
I read loads of threads when I joined and I keep an eye out for anything "interesting" that pops up. Always worth being ahead of the game even if by reading them it seems that Armageddon is about to happen to our wonderful cars at any second. The really important bit is that there are so many vastly knowledgeable & experienced people willing to share hints, tips & tutorials to help us all out. This is a truly Great forum. Andy. |

no no they read it because they want to help answer the question
I read it as Arctic and Andy01 say to learn. Following someone's thread I undid the hub to strut pinch bolts a few weeks ago, seized solid. Now I'm glad I did as I have had to remove a strut. It was a 5 minute job, well not 5 minutes, it took me longer to find something to support the hub etc macafee2 |

I personally request the list of "new posts" and then read those items which are interesting to me. It's like browsing through a magazine, and I don't actually aim for a section, but it is interesting to see what problems people are having and how those are solved.

I LOVE the technical help section. Particularly the lengthy and increasingly acrimonious debate about what really causes KV6 thermostat housings to leak.
On the flip side all the posts about needing an angle grinder / eight-foot monkey bar / friendly gorilla to undo the nuts on the drop links are a little worrying as I prepare to have a first go at doing mine tomorrow

I read general section every day, sometimes twice a day. I also often read technical and How To sections, even though I don't do my own maintenance. I just want to know.
In my job before retirement my first question to the operator was "What is it doing and what should it be doing" |

As the saying goes, the ques?tion mark should always be in the middle of the not at the end.

I find the technical help very useful. the tourer i have bought has a few issues from where it hasn't really been looked after too well in the past. so it needs a few things and also someone fitted heated seats but not wired it up things like this is what i look at in the technical help pages. A very good forum for help. Much better than the metro one i have found.
Thank you to the good folk who run this forum.
