Red face First Speeding Fine

How'do Folks

Sad to say I received my first Speeding Fine

I was clocked by a Mobile Camera - 60mph in a 50mph limited Dual Carriageway - £100 fine and 3 points on my license

I wasn't driving my Car at the time it was a works Van.

I'm a wee bit annoyed with myself.......and, can't help be a wee bit annoyed r.e the circumstance - I won't try and justify my actions (I know their imposed limit on this Road) just thought i'd Name and Shame myself

Paul.

Last time I was speeding was on the A64 around the York bypass, I saw the mobile speed camera and I was travelling with the flow of traffic in the works escort type van. A quick glance at the speedo saw a speed of around 70mph. Thought no more about it, the A64 is motorway condition dual carriageway with central crash barriers.
Received the invitation to attend a speed awareness course as my vehicle was a van and not a car, the limit on an A road is 60mph and I was doing 69.

Despite what MSS says on the subject, mobile camera "safety" vans, are nothing more than a wizard wheeze to extract money from the average motorist...........I'm sure both you and Paul were behaving in a reckless and dangerous manner in driving so far in excess of the posted limit for a LCV.

Maninder is only jealous, as he cannot get his sit on tractor to exceed 10MPH on his country estate

Paul.
Bad luck. I've also been got in the past rushing around for work, which is extra annoying.

When out with others, I now make sure I keep scrupulous records of who's driving when, as it's not easy to remember if a ticket hits the mat a few weeks later.

Come on Brian, did I say they were not?

I just feel that it is an excellent way of extending out tax revenues from the reckless (intentional or unintentional) and the careless!

More, please, gentlement and ladies.

It is actually not a privilege that is extended to those considered reckless, this they explain to you, as they smile and take your cash. Kerching

Furthermore, Motor Insurance companies quickly catch on that they are losing revenue from this and now add to the never ending questions " Ever been on a speed awareness course?" Kerching

In a few years time none of us will get done for speeding, all new cars in a couple of years time will not be able to brake the speed limit so after a few years there will be little point in vans or even cameras so those driving older cars will be free to speed.

Got to admit that the one and only time I have been ‘caught’ speeding, was around 1976......40 in a 30 mph area in my Daimler 250 saloon. I think that the plod that copped me had a thing about Daimler’s because he had already got one stopped in front of me. Served me right for exceeding the speed limit.Think I got fined £12.00.
