These are the previous registrations,
1:
Date:
New Vrm: K6AEN
Previous Vrm: S856DEH
2:
Date:
New Vrm: GU52LHZ
Previous Vrm: K6AEN
this is the traders reply when for the sake of being akward I asked him if he was misrepresenting the car

Hi Vincent thanks for your email I have hpi checked the car myself and whilst the year of manufacture may show 1998 this cars date of first registration is 13/01/2003 and this means the car is a 2003 having contacted dvla before under similar circumstances the date of first registration is the correct year for the vehicle the year of manufacture date may mean the chassis was manufactured in 1998 but the car was registered as a brand spanking new car in 2003 .as for the s856 den reg you mention you are mistaken as this is a private no plate and does not denote the car is a 1998 registered vehicle it is simply a private reg .so I can't state the car has been a 1998 s reg before because it hasn't .in a nutshell dvla would never allow a later reg no to be fitted to a vehicle ie you can't put a 14 reg on a 10 plate vehicle so what I'm saying is dvla would never allow this rover to have a 52 reg if it was a 1998 car .hope this clears it up for you if not glass value the car and again it will show as a 2003 vehicle which is exactly what it is regards kalam

My pre-production was S390 DEH so it probably is a few VIN's after mine.

It was first registered in 2001 I think.

it can be done, and by the DVLA (or rather could have been done). If the car was registered at an address in Northern Ireland, you could have requested an age related plate, or a current one. I am not sure of the exact rules of this, or if they have changed since much of the former DVLNI's responsibilities were absorbed into the DVLA. Certainly in 2010, I enquired about changing the english reg on my XType, I was informed that I could have an age related local reg(2005) or a current local reg (2010).

I am not sure though, if it could be registered in England, come here, be re-registered with a later NI plate, and then return to england, would they insist on being registered with an age related plate. As I understood it, (in 2010) it could be first registered here in NI, then go to England and have the choice of an age related or current reg.
