Default Power cut, decision vindicated

We had out first power cut of significance last night, lasted about 3 or 4 hours.

For years and years I have kept camping Gaz lights in the garage, at last my decision has been vindicated as I just lit one of those.

I woke to the sound of the freezer alarm but that's is back at temperature this morning.

Felt a bit smug in a road of darkness having light. Apparently some 40 odd post codes were a/effected.

Did you not have a drawer in the kitchen full of candles, saved from the three day weeks in the '70s then?

Or am I the only hoarder here?

No, you're not the only one. My mum's kitchen drawer, everything for just in case, but she does remember the blackout in WW2 as she is 90 nearly

I wont have candles in the house, risk of fire. Wife does not agree but I am adamant, no candles

Are gaz lights not a fire risk also?

We have rechargeable torches that serve as motion sensed night lights too. Similar to this below. The main reason we got them was to allow us to go into rooms around the house after our parrot had been put to bed and settled.

Lidl do them every so often, at about half the price of these.

Any flame is a risk. Gaz light stability verses a candles stability.
