I was searching through posts on here for advice, as I've replaced a few of these on my cars over the last few years. There are so many poor quality parts, and the quality often varies considerably even when they are wrapped by the same 'manufacturer'. I bought a pair from the same distributor, packaged by the same supplier / 'manufacturer' where one had a metal surround on the insert and the other was nylon. The nylon practically fell out of the housing!
I also found posts here stating there should be no excessive force needed to press the rear arm bush onto the arm. I'd struggled with this issue previously. I purchased an FAI arm and Meyle front arm rear bush. The Meyle bush I received had the smaller slots in the rubber and looked at least to be of a higher quality than I have previously received. With a little red rubber grease on both, they pushed together by hand without the need for a press. |

These look to be the ones with more rubber in them, going by the listing photo as i have not purchased any, i may well do so just to double check. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282304932482

loosening the bolts can be a right pain - an 18mm flexi head aviation ratchet spanner helps.

I had a pair off DMGRS about 4 or 5 years ago, 50 to 60 thousand miles ago, they're still fine. Much better than the previous pattern parts that would last 18 months at best.

Thanks for replies so far
Have ordered the OEM spec one from Rimmers and will swap it over as soon as it arrives.... Speaking to the sales person he said " We've sold over 100 in three years and had no returns. ". Have seen most of the other offerings and not impressed by them.
They get their MG/Rover one through Xpart. Had bought one of these before buying the DMGRS one and it was sent back the same day it was received. Will keep the failed bush housing and clean it up/ measure it to see if a powerflex polybush would fit... Need the car on the road so have a quick fix to make that happen and hopefully a longer term solution if the powerflex bush will fit the DMGRS bush housing. Bushes
I have fitted these to two cars so far and very pleased. They are a bit more involved as you need to cut out the old inserts and press these in ( a vice is useful) but they go on and work well, no difference in ride quality as far as I can feel.

The PU bushes seem to be long lasting and most comments about ride quality are neutral or mention "sharpening up the steering". Don't want to be replacing these as a service item so that may be the way to go. |

It's quite disappointing to read this - please do get in touch and we'll arrange a credit for you if you don't wish to have a replacement.
We sell hundreds of these (and supply several other UK companies and specialists) - out of nearly 2,000 sold I've not got any warranty claims showing in the last 2 years (since we moved to a new warranty claim tracking database). Apologies again - but it's very very rare; these are Genuine MG parts and the returns rate speaks for itself.

Thanks for the apology and the offer of a credit for me... It wasn't that I didn't want another from you- it was Saturday morning when I finished my shift and the only place I could contact to ensure dispatch that day were Rimmer Bros. I am on shift again tomorrow so the plan was to get the bush, make sure it was ok to fit then remove the one on the car and replace with the newly arrived part. It didn't pan out that way. The part didn't arrive til after two and it was after half five by the time the bush was removed. The two previous ones I've done were a walk in the park compared to this. I can confirm the bushes you sell are pretty robust. I went steady to avoid damaging the arm and had to pretty much mangle the bush to get it off the arm. I didn't get as far as fitting the new bush today so will be using SWMBOs car for my two shifts and will tackle the replacement on Thursday. The arm requires another slight filing (or two) to accept the bush and I'm hoping to be in a better frame of mind to do this then- I didn't want to take off too much and was quite frankly sick of the sight of the thing by the time I finished after half six. Once the new bush is on and I've done a few miles I will report back. Off to lick my wounds.... Last edited by bigblue75; 12th September 2022 at 19:42.. |
