Not a bad thing but erasing all history & patina from a vehicle which is clearly a sound survivor has thankfully become less prevalent & conservation has become more common.


Still kept a few bits original but not much the paint cracked cause of the heat in California

Neither do cars, my Triumph Dolomite is a multi show winner but wouldn't win anything now. Its unrestored and won prizes because of the condition it was in. Now it has deteriorated because I use it, that's what they are for, and took it to get a bit of work done on it. The restorer said not touching it, its original that's how we want to see cars, good well looked after survivors with history. I will only do that when its in need and not just cosmetics.

As its now getting a little worse he is now prepared to do a light cosmetic job on it but will not go any further than that, so saving up. Keep it as original as possible now and conservation is the thinking.

The spitfires body is fully original the rest restored
