I would agree with all on here & say filter separation especially if you have low fuel pressure.
First thing to check on our cars with low fuel pressure (petrol engines).
As already said, VIS motors won't stop the car from starting or running.
Either fit the Orange clip (as said) or a self-tapping screw will suffice.
Good luck & I hope it gets sorted.

Derek,

You might find Reebs' guide to the troublesome fuel filter (the earlier type doesn't suffer) useful.

Put it back on turn her over and she starts then with in seconds it dead again. Question now is would a T4 tester pick anything up. And is there anyone near to Wolverhampton who can help. Im pulling my hair out with this one now

I’d definitely advise a T4 session as your next move buddy
Time to get the nearest T4 guru at it

I don't think that that is an accurate indication of fuel pressure Derek. I'd suggest that you place a gauge on the schrader valve (blue cap in between the two banks at the rear) and measure the pressure. It should be 3.5 bar (55 psi).

Yes, contact Steve (Arctic) who has a T4 and runs the local meetings.
