Default RAF Marham's F35's due to arrive shortly

RAF's newest fighters, the F35B, due to arrive at RAF Marham very shortly, from the base's FB page:

RAF Marham is very much looking forward to welcoming its first F-35 Lightning aircraft at the beginning of June. This significant milestone in the F-35 Lightning programme comes two months ahead of schedule and marks a momentous occasion for the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy.

We are currently unable to give an exact date of the arrival as there are a range of factors that must be considered to ensure optimal conditions for the flight. We are aware that there will be a great deal interest in the arrival of the aircraft and we are working very closely with Norfolk Constabulary to ensure that those who wish to witness this historic event can do so in a safe environment. There are currently no plans for any road closures to be put in place around the base. However Norfolk Constabulary will be in the vicinity of RAF Marham to ensure that any increase in traffic on the day is managed safely.

We are in discussion with local landowners who are looking into the possibility of providing safe areas for members of the public to view and photograph the aircrafts arrival.

Further information will be posted on the RAF Marham Facebook page and Twitter @rafmarhammedia

Would guess that with the weather forecast looking somewhat inclement for the next few days will be next week sometime.

As for Lizzie, she's due to sail to the east coast of America early next month to begin her fixed wing trails; ahead of schedule.

It will be interesting to see how the F35B fairs with the lift fan configuration. I remember a documentary where there were plans on making a supersonic Harrier but still have the single engine.
I can see the Russians having the last laugh, when the west laughed at there Yak 38

If the display at RIAT the other year was anything to go by, it'll handle it very well! It was absolutely rock solid when hovering!

Can't believe the UK is spending obscene amount of money on this troubled aircraft should have spent the money on the NHS and social care and stop wasting it on toys.

Update:

RAF Marham has been working with local landowners to secure parking areas for those wishing to view the arrival of the first F-35 Lightning aircraft. Subsequently, with the kind permission of the landowners parking areas have been confirmed at the following locations: Paddocks at Eastgate Farm (Marham Road, off Chalk Lane), Hall Farm (at Crash Gate 6 on Chalk Lane just 20m from the A1122 junction) and also on the grass verges along White Road (off A1122), Barton Bendish. The landowners will be collecting donations at their respective sites for the charities of their choice.

Please note that this arrangement will only be for the day of the arrival of the aircraft. Anyone attending is asked to respect the property of the local landowners and to only use the designated viewing areas.

Keep following the RAF Marham Facebook page and Twitter @rafmarhammedia for any further information.

Their arrival is imminent????

Now delayed - bit like leaves on the line or wrong kind of snow and modern loco units - wrong kind of rain in the Atlantic!
Never mind they're only ship borne aircraft so any sort of adverse weather shouldn't worry them when they are ever fired in anger. Good job the old Sea Harrier was only used in the calmest of seas and on sunny days down in the south Atlantic

It does come across a bit funny, but I think they are wrapping there new toy in cotton wall. You don't want to loose 100m on its delivery flight.

In the world of defence nothing will ever be cheap. The trend is nowadays to have one thing do every job rather than mission pacific. I think the plan is that the plane will be in service for twice as long than previous planes and the maintance will be cheaper.
