Yes Rick the 1.8s are available as autos as my Connie is. They're not fantastic on fuel as its small engine, heavy body, so if you don't mind spending a bit to have the V6 belts done now and again I would go for the Contemporary SE 2.5 auto. I have one and it is quite simply awesome. Every toy you could want, sounds and drives totally awesome and is very comfy!
If you prefer Mk1 looks go for the Connie SE model |

As a diesel ZTT owner I would definitely recommend a 2.5 V6 automatic with the highest spec you can find.
I have a CDTi simply because of the miles I cover. Cheers Ian |

If you are doing low miles, you can virtually choose any variant, go and see a few different ones, you will know when the right car comes along.

With that mileage you may as well get a 2.5 V6, but look at a few and buy the one that looks like it's been cared for and as usual, do the checks as you would with any car.

It’s a false economy to use a diesel for such few miles. My sister in law does 3k per year in her Polo diesel and has no end of problems with filters clogging up and engine lights coming on. Does not get warm enough on short journeys and she’s paying 4p a litre more on top of the premium price of the car in the fist place!
Wife does 4K per annum in the V6 Auto Contemporary SE with the odd long trip to give it a blast. I do 15k per annum in my Diesel Streetwise and that gives me great fuel economy up and down the motorways. Get a V6 and enjoy it.

It is my only car, mind I was 84 last November so I don't go far. It has had two belt and water pump changes now fitted with kaisers alloy thermostat.
Also has a set of Rick's Bi-xenon head lights and Navall 2, never let me down and never failed a test. Of course you could say it's never used but it takes me where I want to go. |
