Default Xenon lights beam changes when using wash wipe

Hi,

Noticed when using wash wipe stalk for windscreen, the xenon dipped light pattern changes quite a lot. The beam direction changes.
It isn't effecting the full beam as that is regular halogen.

This doesn't always happen everytime and noticed it last night

Hi,with xenon's you will probably have headlight washers, when you activate the windscreen washer it also activates and sprays the headlight if they are switched on,I think it's every 5th activation. On mine the spray on the headlights dims the light untill the water has dispersed. On mine it is quite noticeable how the beam dims during this. Regards Ry....

Thanks, I will have to check this with someone looking at the lights from the outside when I apply the stalk. The light problem happens more frequently than every 5 times though.

You're correct. Every 5th windscreen wash you'll get a headlight wash. It's probably more noticable on dipped xenon as the projection is much shorter/closer/more dispersed light than the higher, full beam halogen.

Finally checked this and it does indeed change the light output, quite a lot surprisingly. I did note that the light washers go everytime and not every 5th wipe

Probably been fitted aftermarket, as it shouldn’t as standard

Also washers only work when lights are on. I thought mine had packed up the other day and started checking fuses...…….until the penny dropped!!

They don't work if washer container is low which I read on another thread is correct. They are actual rover 75 xenons as have the writing on the lense.

Maybe the wash can be set to go everytime with the T4??

They might still have been retrofitted, check if you have the bbus in the plenum, this is a good indication if they are factory or not.
