This would have been the second time I'd 'refurbished' the lens, the first time was a DIY effort using a wide range of wet and dry to prep. and Foracla G3 to polish. I got good results but failed to seal the finished job and it's inevitably deteriorated over about 18 months. The kit contained everything required for two refurbs (the instructions suggested it was sufficient for just two headlights but the consumable contents are quite generous). I did a final dry buff with a soft fabric wheel before applying the seal liquid and got a really good result. Unfortunately the instructions were a little imprecise by saying after applying the liquid and allowing it to spread and 'dry', "do not wash the lens for 24 hours". It was left a full 8 hours in dry outside circumstances and then overnight but unfortunately a dew ruined my lovely new finish so I had to do it all again - a bit more care and strong arms and I've now got splendid clear headlights. NB I contacted Sealey about their instructions suggestion just a small change to the wording and they sent me a new kit without hesitation - first class Customer service/Relations. Anyone know exactly what the liquid coating is, it was quite a low viscosity but 'tacky' and extremely pungent; I believe the lens are polycarbonate so is it a UV barrier, a polycarbonate solvent (or a UV lacquer in a solvent carrier) or..... |
