Exhaust System - 2.5 V6
Hi,
I've got a ZT190 only 5 years old, getting a banging noise from underneath when I go over bumpy or uneven ground. Popped into the local exhaust place and as expected it is the exhaust that is banging. Guy says it looks like the joint on the middle box with the pipe that leads to the back box is in the process of failing. Not much he could do, basically just waiting for it to fail completly then will have to replace. The only thing is that there doesn't really seem to be much support underneath for what is a very heavy system. Couldn't see anything between the front of the car and the backbox, and couldn't see any fixing points that weren't in use. Is this just another case of Rover cutting costs (mine is a facelift) or is something missing? |

No cutbacks and no general reports of problems with lack of mountings.
See PDF below also for parts. I'm sure the Petrol brigade will be along shortly. |

From the picture it looks like the boxes are connected to the cross pieces, is this correct?
My exhaust is banging on the cross pieces and there does not appear to be any connections |

Oh well, better start saving for a nice shinny stainless steel one, is the X-Power one generally considered the best to go for?
