Default Why is my ZT-CDti so gutless!

It's got the air cleaner mod,Synergy box, just serviced and it's such a slug compared to a 2.0 CDti Insignia i had for a couple of days, the specs say the insignia is faster top end but the mg gets there quicker, mine don't!,am I missing something obvious,I've done 130000 miles but the engine still sounds sweet..........hmmmm

Several things to check.
MAF being out of spec is one thing even with the synergy, what is your fuel consumption like?
Is the car smoking at all?

The Intercooler "O" rings are a major cause of loss of power,
also if the PCV filter hasn't been changed that should be attended to as soon as to save large bills.
Blocked EGR and dirty Air Filter are two other things to check.
All without to much cost.

Hi Eric

John's list gives you a good starting place, and are all easy to do.
When you say "runs out of grunt" do you mean the acceleration tails off, or do you mean it won't rev any higher. If the former, this is normal. At 3500 you are above the peak torque point, and it is torque, not power, that provides acceleration. If you mean it won't rev any higher than 3500 then there is a problem somewhere, especially with a Ronbox fitted, as it should easily hit the redline in the first four gears.

Nothing to do with it - these motors pull like billyo if all is OK, even at high mileages.

That'd be my opinion as well. VeeKay is on 120k and has no get up and go problems. Quite the reverse
