Default New key fob. What am I doing wrong?

Just bought a replacement key fob. Transferring it all across to the new one and it seems the buttons are making contact before the case is shut. Then when the case is actually shut, the buttons are solid so no click click from the fob when buttons are pushed.
It's going to be something simple I know. Tips welcome.

Hi Vic have you made sure the PCB board is under the two little tabs in the key, ? so it it is bedded in fully.

That's easily sorted if you're good with a soldering iron or know someone who is.

The switches had completely fallen off both my Cowley keys - you can get new ones off eBay. I did and soldered them on. I had to file the new case on mine too as it wasn't the greatest fit together!

HI Vic.
Also check the button tabs inside the new fob are their any little pimples of plastic sticking up from them ?

1

Put right hand side of the PCB board in first then push it down on the left side
2

Check the push buttons for pimples
3

4

Finally check round the inside edges

I am not good with a soldering iron, but managed to do mine.
The main problem was the eyesight.

Ooh cheap eBay cases

On the closing side where the transponder lives, you will see a "prong" of plastic, prune that off, then warm a suitable piece of metal rod/M6 bolt with a blowlamp or similar, and melt slightly the inner posts of the part which contact the microswitches.

You cannot beat quality components, which is why I won't use these sort of gash cases from the far east

Oh and remember to stick the transponder into the rear part of the case with a blob of blu tack, as it doesn't have the securing lugs cast into the case
