Red face 75 mk1 steering rack won't leave the column

Hi, Ive followed the Haines book to remove a steering rack. Taken out the pinch bolt at bottom of column but the universal won't move. Fully prepared rack for removal, it's completely free, but still can't remove from the U/J. Any ideas? What am I missing?

Default It's off

The U/J was extremely tight on the pinion. the use of an old screwdriver as a wedge started it moving, then with a few grunts, heaves and leverage, it came.
