A very long story short, we arranged to have the 'new arms' made up for us, but due to production delays this was pushed forward (after the order was placed) by quite some way - well into 2021. Must be a busy place!

Next we found a load of SAIC MG arms which we've sold before, and are excellent - ordered over 100 of each side, but only a few LH arrived with us (lots of RH though).

Some more MG LH have since been located, but our next shipment isn't due here until May / June, so they'll be bundled with this.

Dave in Fencehouses refused to fit my Indian rear arms and explained that the welds are substandard and that the gap at the end (for a bush presumably) is too wide.

I won't be welding it up, the highlight of my welding class was to set fire to my overalls. My wife once asked me to paint the front door, she's never given me a painting job since.

Who would do the job for me? Any ideas?

Default Rear Arms

Dave fitted my new arms yesterday, and he explained to me about the Indian Arms, but lucky for me I purchased a set of the Chinese one's about 4 months ago from one of the traders on here, and he mentioned that the quality of the Chinese one's are nearly as good as the originals.

Chinese one's do come up occasionally, so keep your eyes out on them

Don't know where or how long ago you bought these arms but is there no chance of returning them being "unfit for purpose" following MarinaBrian's published findings?

Suppose the only other alternative is contacting XPart themselves and asking if a) you could return them B) they could re-work them (weld) as I think MarinaBrian has said that they've done with some of these Indian arms.

Regards

Hi Pete.
As Mike suggests get in touch with the seller and explain that your mechanic refused to fit them on the basis that they are not fit for purpose, that being however long you have had them they would not have been fitted by any mechanic.

Ask if they will exchange them for other parts you may need, or a full refund, or even a pair of the newer arms if they have any or going to have any, and point them in the direction of this and other threads regarding the Indian arms.

There's a few concurrent threads on Rear Upper Arms - I thought it'd be prudent to update you all with progress on a 'final replacement' we're having worked on at the moment.

We are having an arm made up for us by the original SAIC MG supplier - the only issue as I've mentioned before has been tooling cost, as the original tooling is no longer available.
With the help of this supplier our own tooling is now being created - this will take a couple of months, but means the arms produced will be exclusive to us.

A couple of modifications will be made to the design thanks to input from the forum experts (beers incoming for everyone who has helped us with this) - namely a full inside-and-out coating, and larger drain holes (in the correct place) to help avoid clogging with mud and grime.

We'll keep you all posted with progress, but if you're waiting for a top-notch replacement at a very competitive price (nothing firm yet, but it'll certainly be less than they cost currently) then I'd hang on to November / December when we expect these to be ready.

We'll open up pre-orders once we've had them test fitted to a car and confirmed we're 100% happy with them, which I would expect to be September / October.

Another update on these arms has been posted here: https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...66#post2849966

In short, it's great news and not long to go now!
