Default Replace whole seat belt front passenger to solve airbag light issue

Hi,
My auto electric diagnostic/mechanic traces issue to passenger front seat belt and suggests that the whole seat belt assembly etc should be replaced. I would have thought this was a bit extreme for what is a electrical connection. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

My thoughts are you need a new mechanic. Replacing the seat belt assembly may fix the problem just as morphine will relieve the pain a mild headache brings.

If he thinks its the air bag and not the connection, try disconnecting the air bag and connect a 2.2 ohm resistor (available on ebay) to the under seat connections.

Check the seatbelt mechanism has not fired. If its shorter than normal then it has operated and would need changing.

Default Seat belt : air bag light issue resolved.

All good problem sorted without replacement of seat belts: "sanity prevails"
