The EP did come on on the display.
Interestingly when I spoke to the garage yesterday they were able to drive the car the short distance from their car park to the workshop and back even though I had no drive at all when I called the AA. I'm heading up to the garage shortly and I'll print this all out for them to have a look at. I'll let you all know how it goes, thanks again. Dave |

I think the ECU for the auto box on the 2.5.. V6.. lives behind the passenger side glovebox.

Thanks a lot for that Pat, much appreciated.
I printed off all the very helpful responses today and took them to the garage. It's an independant type business, that is to say it is family run entirely and not franchised or anything. They have always been totally professional and never ripped me off even though they very easily could have on many occasions over the last 8 years. I explain this because I was a bit embarrased to try and teach their granny to suck eggs but Tom - the owner - welcomed it greatly explaining that he was always willing to learn and that he couldn't possibly ever know every single thing about every single car which was nice. If I can find the right donor box I will be delighted as he has quoted me a mere £255 to drop the naffed one out and fit the replacement which seemed very reasonable. Dave |

Just a quick update.
The gear box is needing replaced so I'm trying to find a decent 2nd hand one on ebay at the moment. It turns out my gearbox is the PR002 so that of course will make it a bit harder probably as it seems to be rarer. At the risk of asking a silly question, is the 2.0 V6 autobox the same as the 2.5 V6 by any chance? Many thanks. |

What was the diagnosis ie why does it need replacing rather than repair ?? And IIRC the 2l V6 Auto has different gear ratios to the 2.5 so I dont think it will do - no doubt someone else can confirm |

As I said, I think the later one had the hardened reverse piston, as the earlier ones had reliability problems with this componant. But I am not certain, but would have thought your ecu should also work with the later one. Here is one for sale, and I would have thought a reasonable price. It is a pr012, but they also have the ecu too. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-75-ZT-2-...item3f012ff791 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROVER-75-MGZT-...item41503b71ce Or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rover-75-ZT-2-...item335fac181c if you need one delivered Matt Last edited by Matt1960; 9th August 2010 at 20:41..
