Hi Line Screen
I've an annoying fault re-occurring with the screen on my hi line ice.
The screen starts to flicker and then fades on off before completely fading away. It happens on all screens. Its ok if the radio is used but such a pain when using the sat nav as you still get the voice but no screen. Turning on off seems to make no difference. If switched off for a while it'll work ok for 1/2 hr or so then start failing again.. Anyone have an idea of what might be the solution to fixing the fault. |

Check the two rear multi plugs are seated correctly.
Check the satnav computer in the boot for signs of damp. MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE SHUT DOWN PROCEDURE BEFORE UNPLUGGING THE SAT NAV UNIT (see below) If all that is ok pop the satnav unit in the airing cupboard for a day or so, as it might be suffering from condensation internally.

It's the screen indeed. A common problem with the Rover 75 en BMW E46 series unit. Sometimes the screens (not the whole unit) will appear on E-bay, it's very easy to get the old one out, and the new one in. (15 minute job)
Otherwise you can change the unit of course, but that will cost a bit more money....

Thanks all for the advise. I changed my thermostat a couple of weeks ago and disconnected the battery.
Since re-connection the display has been perfect. Weird! G |

When the engine is first started the screen flickers then fades off and on, some times it stops on long enough to turn the screen off to prevent the annoying flickering.. Is it easy enough to remove the screen! If so how to i go about it? G |

It's very easy in fact, first remove the "eyebrow" and than remove the two screws above the unit.
Sometimes it will come out than if you pull it from top to down, when it doesn't you can remove the aircon panel. Just click the facia off, and remove the 4 screws. Than it's very easy to remove the unit.
