Default Drivers door leak

I have had quite a bad water leak into the drivers door since new (06 reg CDTi Tourer) and SMC have not been able to fix it. The car is now out of warranty. After rain the door pocket is wet sometimes half way up the radio speaker. Not good. A possibility that it may be the seal round the door mirror I think is discounted.

However it has been suggested to me that the plastic diaphragm inside the door may have been installed incorrectly. This sounds feasible to me but I wonder what members think?

Are new diaphragms available and is it much of a job to fix?

Kind regards

John

Not sure if these will help you, try "door seal" first.

So you have a car from new with a major problem that the dealers haven't fixed, and now they wash their hands of it because it is out of warranty? Come on, theyr'e taking the you know what. Get onto tradings standards pronto and see what they have to say. And if possible steer clear of SMC afterwards, there's no rocket science involved finding a leak in a door.

John

Sorry to here they haven't manage to sort it.......If the water is getting into the pocket then it must be running down the inside of the door card.

I would suggest asking SMC to let you have a new membrane and set of door clips and do it yourself

Thanks for the advice, David included. It is not that SMC has walked away from the problem more that they were making a bit of a palaver about it. I will try again!

Best wishes
