I have only just caught up with this dreadfully sad news of the loss of Derek - whom I had the good fortune to meet - albeit briefly - at the Pride of Longbridge a few years ago.
His individual welcome posts to new members represent to me a vital element of what is so positive about this Club and stand it apart from being merely an Internet forum. The true courtesy he extended to everyone is something that it would be lovely to think could be a permanent legacy, although I don't know how this might work in practice, it might be something for the Club's officers to consider. My warm condolences to Lilian and Derek's family - and to all those friends of his in the Club. Nicholas/Zircon |

As soon as work gets back to normal I will put a holiday in for this. I didn't know Derek but as others have said, he was an immense figure in this forum and I liked the way he always welcomed new members and gave out birthday greetings.
So can you put me on the list to attend please.

I don't normally come on the social forum, but after finding out today of Derek's passing came here to find this tribute.
My sincerest condolences to Lillian and his family. R.I.P. Derek.

That's a relief that "afterwards" is only a 5 minute drive away. For me anyway, I will have to be back on the road for 1pm at the latest, to return the hire car for 6.30 pm.
