Well not quite today but, with the help of a work colleague, I removed the diff and sent it off for a refurb, hopefully to be refitted next weekend.

Hi Andy, yes it was a bit noisy - i was aware of it when i bought the car but thought it was the ideal time to get it sorted whilst the slippy stuff is still kicking about.
All came undone quite well really apart from the statutory one pain in the backside bolt that caused a fair amount of bad language to be used . Took the opportunity to give the subframe a good wire brushing & a lick of paint as well whilst the diff is out of the way. Steve. |

It was a bit noisy, as the previous owner had advised me, there was a bit of a leak from the rear cover that needed sorting so i thought it best to get it refurbed before it got any worse. Car has done 99,000 miles.
Handily there is a specialist about 60 miles from me. Steve. |

This one was used as an everyday car and has been quite well maintained - the previous owner just decided that, after 9 years of ownership and as his everyday car, it was time for a change. I don't think the diff was in major need of refurbing i just want it to be right. There are a few small issues with the car that i am aware of that are being dealt with one at a time and it is now no longer in use everyday so not really a problem. It uses a lot less fuel whilst it is parked up!!

The diffs had running in oil from the factory, sadly the change to the correct oil was often omitted.
Think RWD car with a knackered Hardy Spicer joint, and you have the effect John, it's an unpleasant amount of transmission lash when you are hovering around the overrun point. Every single V8 I've driven is the same Brian |
