yet another wasp nest
This must be the 3rd or 4th wasp nest I have had in the house. This time in the chimney. Just gone to put some wasp killer in the entrance hole and karma, I got stung
Not sure I fancy trying again, quite a lot of wasps came out and I made a very hasty exit. Could be a job for the council, they have done the others. One puff of what ever powder they use and that's the end of the problem. ouch me head stings macafee2 |

My parents often get a wasps nest, usually at least one a year. He’s got a piece of plastic water pipe which he puts ant powder into, stabs it into the centre of the nest and blows the powder in. Soon kills them but can be done from a small distance.

I heard you can buy a fake wasps nest, one of those brown paperlike things.
They say that if wasps see a nest already in the vicinity, they go elsewhere. How true this is I just don't know, but it's worth a punt. Maybe Amazon, EBay sites is a place to start looking should you think it's worth it. |

We had one 2ft in diameter at the top of our pine tree a couple of years ago. Asian wasps.--
We called in a specialist as it was 30 ft up in the air. When he arrived we went and hid.--- |

I posted on here about this the other day in another thread. No point in putting up a decoy nest now when there's one (or more) already established, so the only option at this stage of the year is eradication. For early next spring, this might help in the garden at least - not sure about when they've previously established a nest within the house structure.

Ant powder they hate it and put it near the entrance of the nest or inside the entrance, they carry it into the next and it kills them off quite quickly.
If you can blow it directly into the nest all the better.
