Default POD Filters Mythbusted

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAIxeQUSg-Q

Showed this to my friend today as he stuck one on his ZR, he said he was getting more power from the air filter.

All it was is an Induction noise.

Let's say we got into a little argument about it.
This video pretty much explains it all, he's watching it, after that he removed and put is standard air filter back on it.

Other one done by the same people, this time using more powerful engine and car.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCi2yo4UqPI

Would it work, will it increase power, well there's only one way to find out.

All very good.......

Except an engine, including its fuel system and ECU has to 'Learn' for quite a while when you change anything that effects the engines running.

So a more realistic test is to test 'restriction' of Airflow, of which benefits will only be felt after a period of time. To test right after each change is not giving a true result.

Also it's not only about ultimate HP, it's also about delivery and overall performance.

This also goes when you change exhaust systems and even fuel grades!

http://www.fastcar.co.uk/2012/05/04/...r-filter-test/

Although I do not have any of the tested Filters, I do have a Blitz SUS S/S Filter fitted.

Of course everyone will have differing beliefs, and each to his own.

found other one here well worth a watch lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbGWgvJN1_8

this time its on electric super chargers.
done by the same people and with more technical information regarding the industrial fan, as many of the comments of the video, say that no air is going though the car, cause it is because what ti stop it from over heating as it is on the rolling road.

I've got a pipe cross air filter on mine, its a form type, bought it mainly as its easier to clean and don't have to keep replacing the original once all the time.

I still keep checking it and hovering it and getting rid of any dirt, dust and what ever I pick from the road.

Its a straight on fit to the existing filter.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-75-D...oAAMXQVERS2rNr

Personally I don't think they do anything, apart from the induction noise if you have the pod type.
or like there test, shove pod filter straight in to the fan, then you get gains lol.

Mines still on the original factor air box and sealed.
Each to there own.

Thanks Lord Rover, nice to get a non-childish comment/view.

As you said, it's all up to one's personal choice/belief in the end - I am certainly not saying anyone must use them or insulting their choice not to.

All I can say is that "I" certainly feel the benefits, both in performance delivery and improved fuel economy.

The only downside is that for me it makes the Engine Bay look untidy compared to having the proper Airbox in situ.

The Blitz, as seen here:

But at least when I do have the Airbox fitted I have a K&N Panel Filter in there... Which is certainly better than the standard Paper element as far as I'm concerned. And I'm lucky, I got one for only £28.00, now they are nearly 40 quid..!!

is it possible your able to modify the air box and make it sealed?
All depends on the size of the V6 air box, would it fit?

Wanted to ask you how come the Panel filters are more expensive then the pod types?

Everyone as there own views as you say and I don't believe
ripping somebody apart over it, were different and that's how should be, we live for ourselves and no one else.
