So it would seem the best we can do is a rubber seal or silicone and leave the top 1/2 inch or so unsealed, then. At least that'd be good enough for all but the most severe flooding I guess, and a lot better than the standard 2" of water in the bottom and the board is doing the breast stroke!

Hi Brian. Thanks for the o ring info. Very informative.I have looked round on their site for the complicating faults that can occur for many reasons. When I replace the thermostat container, if it is the actual thermostat that is up the stick, I will go and talk to Barnwell’s and ask their advice on what kind of rings they can recommend for that location. Very hot plus possible heat sink opportunity to cause problems with the o rings.
