Got back to V8 ownership with my dream car purchase today. It's very much a project, but I love it!

Hello, I'm sorry if I've hijacked your thread but as a newbie ( and excuse me if I am being a bit thick here) I can't seem to find a way of starting a thread about my starting problem...I think it may be an alternator but not sure..I presume I am allowed to actually start a thread or is that only for paying subscribers? Much appreciated if anybody can be bothered to reply..Thanks..

Welcome to the club, yes start a post in the technical help forum. They're very helpful here and I had a very quick reply when I had a problem.

Good luck getting it sorted!

Worked on a fairly complex engine management system in the rain

After slackening the distributor pinch bolt with a 7/16 AF spanner, I removed the dissy and cleaned up the faces of the points with a diamond file, then reset the gap with a 15 thou searcher.

We now have a spark, but still no fuel, so off with the float chamber lid on the HS4 S.U., hmm bone dry, and sure enough there is no suction from the mechanical pump

Never mind he says, fills up the bowl with petrol, out with the choke and after a couple of seconds of winding over he's alive

Last started in 2002, so fourteen years of slumber comes to an end.......just the clutch to free off now, and the recommissioning can begin in earnest
