As you suspect, I also reckon it'll be a pulley or tensioner that's caused it to go.
Usual culprit is the waterpump bearing collapsing!

i've been catching up with a few little jobs as the MOT looms up soon
Fitted a fresh tailgate
changed front ABS sensor
sorted the rear lights out....what a rotten job replacing the rivnuts

job for tomorrow (or is that today?) is bumper off and taking a zenon light apart to replace the manual adjuster, then refurb of the lenses

Hi Pete.
I should imagine your belt will be ok as mine as been on my FL1 for 2yrs now, Contitech in my opinion is most likely the best belt out there.

Changed belts on mine and friends car what must be 4/5 years ago. Contitech was on both cars, and were replaced with Contitech. Still in use and checked regularly.

It was on a 60mph stretch of road, so retrieving the belt for a csi investigation is out of the question.

The belt is about 50 weeks old, I fitted a new one when my water pump gave up the ghost this time last year. So it's out with the whisky, and I'll start investigating why it happened tomorrow

Could perhaps be a worn pulley putting extra stress on the belt and wearing it out?
