Mobile phone signal repeater

Having spent a lot more time at home that I usually do I have realised how bad the signal is where I live. I am on Vodaphone and the wife is on EE and if I am lucky I get one bar upstairs hanging out the window.

I have seen you can get signal repeaters that claim great things by putting an aerial on the chimney and then then running a cable into the house, boosting it and then having a repeater in the house. Some are claiming 1 bar to 5 bars .

I know if I drive down the road my signal increases dramatically within a few hundred yards of the house. Looking at various websites they all say I am on the edge of all the networks.

Has anybody had any success with these booster/repeaters before I spend out the best part of £200.

I have had one of the Vodafone signal boosters that plugs into the internet but they only seem to last there warranty period and then fail and I refuse to buy any more of these.
