I think I can shed some light on this.

MG Rover's manual confirms that the Symphony is programmed at the factory with a four digit security code which will be required after disconnection of the power supply. However ...

... it also says that the security code function can be disabled. This can be done by the user without special equipment, but only after entering the correct code! Once disabled, the code function can be reactivated without having to enter a code. It's theoretically possible that your buyer accidentally reactivated the code function when connecting the radio to his car. If he then temporarily disconnected the power supply (perhaps because the wires were tangled), it would ask for a code thereafter.

Having said that, he should be able to photograph the LCD displaying 'CODE', as you say. The fact that he hasn't done that is suspicious.

Simon.
Thanks simon, that does seem a reasonable answer which i can accept.

Still suspicious that he cant provide proof though

Hiya John.. Seriously.... If ever you have problems with ebay, i am quite a dab hand now..514 stars and not one neg or nuetral...Oh, i have had members try it on, i have bought stuff in the past that the seller refused to let me have for my winning bid..lol. They have lefr feedback with i have proved to be unfair and had it removed forthwith,,I have also sold lots of stuff to overseas buyers, so if ever you need a price for courier charges, just give me the weight, size etc and i will do it for you no problem. dont you find with more feedback you get, the harder it is to sell, i have several accounts on feebay and the highest is 1600 feedback, great for buying with but pants for selling.
