hi guys spent some time doing some basic checks i have removed all units checked wiring and units for water and broken wire etc no signs.

I put the units back and powered up all works as should when i switch off the led blinks a few time goes permanent then off great all ok, but if you look carefully the led has a dim flicker to it, is this right!

Also Reebs you mentioned that the video unit has a fan in it so i could tell if its still active when i removed the outer covers there is no fan in my unit is this right.

as i have said this has been replaced by previous owner and it says 2nd hand unit used.

units are back out now and drying just to make sure.

sorting the leaks out next and then doing a draw test when happy no moisture present causing false readings.

thanks for your help rob

As you can see no fan not sure why

Any idea about the dim flicker to the LED now is it normal or still at fault

Found several leaks in the back both vents and the trims leak and drain tube out of its rubber bung should keep me busy tomorrow, do i need new clips for the trims or should it come off easily

The loose light cluster was 1 bolt missing and a broken locator but can't see how water would get in here anyway as mounted on out side of panel work

thanks rob

The light cluster is a common leak point.
A lot of people have added a bead of clear silicone to help seal

I really do think it should have a cooling fan, certainly for the original year of your car 2003, they were fitted with fans. What's the part number of your video module, mine is

YIC 000110

Re the very dim LED after flashing, yes I have observed that on one of mine, and it doesn't drain the battery! for me.

Thanks Reebs all stickers removed from outside.

could the garage who replaced it done this I.e take the fan out to stop the drain remove stickers and say a different unit put in just an idea.

i guess i will look for a new one as the fan must be important and i don't get the basic screen set up when the nav unit out

seen a new one with smc part no YIC000140

thanks rob
