hi Jeff,

Gutted I missed this as I've just done a hiline fit to an 04 car with kit from a 51 and I live in Lincoln.

I'm down in the smoke till Thursday, but will then be up till Sunday. If you could get to Burghley on the Saturday, I could have a look and see if I can help.

I bought this one as its the exact same one I have on my caravan but I bought it for radio use on the van but tested it and it worked better then the STATUS one fitted on the roof of it.

The Freeview box I bought was this one,

But others have used this one and I rekon its better and must easier to hid away then mine.
Manys thanks v
The freeview box includes an aerial was it not up to scratch?

I'm sorry if I sound a bit of a dumbell guys but it's the first time i've worked on this car. I'm ok with ZS's as I learned about them over the 7 years i've owned them and know nearly everything about Montego's but this is something new for me. I know I have the skills to do this but need to be sure first and i'm in no hurry.

I found the rear screen aerial worked fine with the diversity amp.

Its straightforward to change the original amp for the diversity amp.

I would not attempt to solder any connections to the rear screen as you will find that the soldering iron just burns away the conductive material.

I found the aerial that came with it had a magnetic base and was not powered. So it didnt have a good signal and it kept breaking up.

It should improve at the anlogue switch off but the powered one is a perminant fixture and looks very smart and is hidden out of the way and always gets 75%-95% signal quality, not had 100% even when I plugged my roof aerial in so it could be a bug in the software on the freeview tuner.

But including the AV in lead it came to just over £100 and the BMW one is a better system as it uses the standard stuff but the tuners go for £300 upwards.

Your welcome Jeff, thats what all us owners are about helping others with stuff we have done or not done and bought etc.

After all I bought some aero wipers off ebay and they wernt cheap but they dont work very well at all. So might aswell give products the thumbs up if there good and work with the cars.

Last thing now...hopefully
The small 2 pin plug slate grey/green that connects to the abs. Where abouts in the loom is it as I can't find it?
I have removed the ashtray etc and had a look there but as yet can't see it. Is it to the right or left of the centre consol or behind something else?
Thanks

If the slate grey/green wire isn't in plug CO982 then it will be tied up the loom for that plug. You may have to remove the insulation around the loom to find the wire, going back into the top left of the radio aparture..
