The infection rate round our area has risen by some 700%: Apparently a local care home has had about 60 cases which has caused the overall rate to increase.We are going to be in and out of lockdowns more times than the Hokey Cokey at this rate.. We will be off to do our Xmas food shopping today or tomorrow,as there will be a shortage now that European countries have imposed a travel ban on anyone from the UK. Also I can foresee the whole country being shut down with the exception of essential businesses come Boxing Day.

I think that the EU's stance might ease sooner rather than later. The EU mistook an opportunity to stick the knife in when it appears that most of those stabbed in the back are drivers trying to get back to the EU after dumping their loads in the UK. Strange, but true to form, outfits like the BBC are not keen to report reality. Lol. We are an island nation so the new variant of C19 is likely to be, I would guess, more prevalent in the EU than the EU is currently willing or able to fess up to. I would hope that the UK is not as opportunistic re it but a plan B to Dover is some decades overdue I think.

Blue sky with the odd wispy cloud. Definitely a chilly one.

Looks set for the day so hopefully haven't got to play "miss the rain" for timing Quizzie's walk.

The river is well up again but not quite to where it was. It's a filthy brown colour and running fast. The ducks, geese and swans are loving it with several new lakes for them .

This virus is always a step in front of us and it seem to know what we are doing.

Its not the Governments vault,its the idiots amongst us who continue to flout the rules etc,

Stay indoors mean exactly that.

We shall all be in lockdown again before the end of the week,jobs will be lost and family,s will struggle,those people should then have a long look at themselves and say am I really such a selfish Bar Steward.

Drinkers in York fined for crossing over tier boundaries

A "shocking" number of fines have been handed out to people moving from tier 3 to tier 2 areas to drink in pubs and bars, a police force says.

North Yorkshire Police said of more than 160 fines handed out in tier 2 York over the weekend, most went to people living in tier three areas.

All areas of England have been placed in one of four tiers of coronavirus restrictions, depending on factors such as how fast Covid is spreading and pressure on hospitals.

York is near areas under stricter Covid rules like West and South Yorkshire.

The force said it would continue to patrol the city for anyone drinking illegally.

Officers visited pubs in the city from Friday and the force said they found large numbers in breach of the regulations.

Some of the drinkers dispersed and left when spoken to by officers but action was taken against others who stayed, the force said.
