What were the symptoms when you plugged it back in? I did however save the content of the immobiliser eeprom, which could be programmed into the replacement ECM

Didn't get a chance to do anything to the Rovers today - nice and sunny so thought I'd catch up on the backlog of car jobs but Mrs Noc had other plans.

Over the years ivy has grown all over one side of the back fence and destroyed a couple of panels and a post, and as we are open house for Mother's Day it had to be removed and everything tidied up.

My own fault, as I have repeatedly put off doing anything about it. As a last resort I even swore blind I saw 2 crested newts and half a dozen greater horseshoe bats nesting there but she was having none of it.

Ah well, anything for a quiet life.

Mrs MB is very patient, but I don't think she was too impressed when I mentioned titivating the 214 ready for it's test.

When asked why I still have this old banger, I replied I like it better than the new bangers

Fitted a battery to my 214 which has not turned a wheel in eleven months.

Re synced the plip and turned the key........it started as if I'd just been to the shops

It was of course rooted to the spot, so a bit of throttle and some fierce clutch action sorted that out, so a quick trip around the block, then up on the ramps for a replacement centre exhaust section.

Then off to the petrol station, £10 of LPG in the tank (22 litres ) and a run back home to clean off the green slime from the paintwork.

After some Cillit Bang, a wipe over with some Jif and a jolly good scrub, I thought I'd take it out for a short run.

Forty miles later, I returned with a huge smile on my face, I'd forgotten how nice a car this is to drive, quiet, smooth, quick and agile

Off down to Selecta Panel tomorrow morning to see about some bits to replace the brown bits, and a proper going over of the brakes.

So impressed was I by the little lad's resilience to having been completely neglected for almost a year, I'm going to reward him with a complete revamp, followed by the sale of the ZT

Watch this space for a Primertallic ZT diesel, coming your way soon

Don't you just love it
LPG, a 214 and a car from a better age, sheer heaven
Fancy a swap for MFL with a brand new MOT?

Today's tasks, nothing to do with the mg, replaced the valve caps and set clearances on the defender, replaced the leaky pas hose, and put her back together.
Took me a good 4 hrs.
Tomorrow I'll be trying to locate the clutch pedal switch on the mg, see if I can get the cruise working

Took some rubbish to the tip, a tourer doing 'stuff' that it was designed to do

Got into my 214, turned the key and drove across and collected the single pump conversion parts for my ZT, no fuss no drama
