Default New UBP

The new 'Pierburg' UBP has arrived. It has Pierburg all over the box and the leaflet inside, but has TI Automotive stamped on the pump body. I'm ok with this because TI bought Pierburg in 2003 apparently, as long as it's quiet. I don't think it should have been advertised as Pierburg though.

Hi Heddy.
I agree or at least state in the listing that the pump you actually receive will be a TI Automotive, as you say it is one and the same, but just put it out there so people know.

I agree with both the above posts. Really, in effect it is miss describing the authenticity of the item.

Default Update.

Fitted the (TI Automotive ) pump and it wasn't whisper quiet, so it's gone back today. The e-bay seller MR AUTO wasn't easy to deal with, wanted pictures of the box, pictures of the pump (they knew what they'd sent) and seemed to be stalling for time. No case to answer in the end because their picture was generic and pump described as Pierburg. Ask questions before you buy, these pumps may not be as they appear, and for 100 plus quid they ought to be!

Just explain why your Pierburg pump arrived as TI automotive pump in a pierburg box it’s because

TI AUTOMOTIVE acquired the electric fuel pump division of kolbensmidt pierburg AG Neuss in Germany some time ago and that is why Rimmers supply TI AUTOMOTIVE pumps as OEM
I’ve used these pumps for around 100k miles on our cars and BMW’s and they have been excellent
Hope this info helps, if you buy a “pierburg” from euros it will come in a blue pierburg box but be a TI AUTOMOTIVE pump.

Yep, you can't buy a Pierburg brand new for that reason, it's gone back because it was too noisy. I feel something was lost after the buy out.
