First time installing dash cam?
Thinking of fitting a dash cam from Halfraud’s (Nextbase 312GW – Which Best Buy), and contemplating wiring it in myself
Seriously, for somebody who’s generally pretty handy, but looks completely blank when you use any car-related technical terms, doesn't know how to remove bits of trim etc, and ALWAYS breaks things when he doesn’t understand them, how likely am I to succeed? I’m guessing I have to somehow tease the trim round the top edge of the windscreen back, slip the wire in, do the same with the trim on the A pillar (how?) and then somehow access it behind the dash (where?) and get the wire to a switched power feed, eg to my stereo? Would I need to remove all the stuff like the panel above the foot pedals etc? Or can I pick a switched live wire up in the roof lights or something? Thanks

I fitted one of these and wire it to earth and AUX on the fuse box under the glovebox then fed wires up to the dash cam.... turns on with the ign on and goes off when ign off everytime...... save plugging it into the cigar lighter.......

Your thread has given me a thought as I also have a dash cam to fit which I've had for 18mths but not had the time to do it. If you have a sunroof model there should be an ignition live by the interior mirror for the sun roof motor for you to pick up. The only problem might be space in the roof void to place the 12v to 5v transformer.

I do not have a sunroof on my ZTT, but at a Nano Meet last year another member was very kind!y able to hardwire my dashcam using a Nextbase hardwire kit underneath the central roof light at the front. There was also enough room to hide everything up under the roof lining. I was very pleased with the fitting of my dashcam.
Halfords also offer a fitting service http://www.halfords.com/advice/techn...itting-service which we used for my wifes Citroen C3 anx they did a very good job. |

You may have the wiring for the rain sensing wipers in the loom near the interior light. If it is there, the White/Yellow cable is an ignition feed.
