Torque wrenches

Looking to buy myself a new 1/2" drive 60-300 Nm torque wrench as the one I have is around 30 years old now and was just a cheap one at the time.

My budget is restricting me a little but, I've been looking at Norbar and Halfords Advanced ones.
Anybody got any views or experience with either of those brands?

I tend to get bits from CPC as they are cheaper and are a manufacture Supplier, and other available

I have the Halfords Advanced one and I have no complaints, it's a nice piece of kit. Norbar have a very good reputation also. I got the Halfords one to replace my ancient Norbar, mainly because it was a better price.

If you get over 30 years out of them then what ever you buy will be cheap on a £ per year basis

Just checked Halfords model 300 is £63.20 inc vat.

I quit like draper but they have not as far as I could see got one that covers your range, you would need two.
I know it may be a silly reason to some but not to me, the carry case. Their torque wrenches have a decent carry case.

I see two torque wrenches as a good thing!

I had to buy a massive 3/4" drive one to do the hub nuts on my Megane (280nm) - while it has a range down to about 60nm, it's just not always the right tool - e.g. to torque a caliper slider it's too big and heavy, a regular 1/2" one is much better.

I now have a 3/8"s one for when that's too big, too.

I prefer to cover the range with two torque wrenches.

My collection consists of Halfords Professiional 8-60Nm and 40-200Nm.

I keep a Silverline 28-210Nm in the car for wheel bolts etc. It's relatively cheap (circa £24) but sufficiently accurate for the intended job.

My 1/2" one is Norbar, and my 3/8" Britool, and apart from losing the knurled adjusting knob from the Norbar, it is still accurate and linear after 30 years.

Go for the Norbar, they are superb
