Danke
Just picked up this thread and this is an interesting observation. I was involved with braking systems at Rover Group when owned by BMW and the Rover 75 braking system was designed to BMW standards and tested too the same. These are exactly the same standards that every other BMW product had to meet and specifically needed to stand up to Autobahn driving as you mention ( Repeated applications at high speed) . Unfortunately most consumable items such as pads/ discs are not to that original specification .

Well all I know is that the standard brakes are like the standard brakes on a Rover Coupe Turbo.

One or two slow-downs and the show is over.

As anyone knows, sometimes Autobahn driving can involve repeated dropping the anchors, (if you drive like a German BMW/Audi driver)

THe stopping power on the 260 is what I would call "acceptable" so if the 190 setup on a diesel provides something similar, then I will consider this job done.

Totally unsure what difference the master cylinder makes though, first time Ive read of people swapping that too. I was hoping just to swap calipers and carriers.

Of course I am slightly biased, I did have AP Roversport 330mm brakes on the old Coupe Turbo, so got used to a much higher level of stopping power.

Worst decision I ever made selling that car, I want to buy it back.

You don't need to swap the master cylinder - but the pedal feel might not be as good.

More information is here - https://www.rallydesign.co.uk/pdf/de...pot_brakes.pdf - but I never noticed an issue just swapping the front calipers.

Against that the R75/ZT is bigger and heavier. The 520d would be a better comparision as they are the same size. What brakes are on that?
