Yes I think I could give that a try, or use the Dremel, I think they are probably quite soft

I used to sell bags of stainless steel HP valve caps in bags of 100 to hauliers for about £12.

If you like to use fancy dust caps, just smear some silicone grease or vaseline on the thread once in a while, problem solved.

The problem is that the aluminium threads on these caps corrode and seize with water and salt (as mentioned). Dearer brass threaded one will be ok. As mentioned, vice grips and a junior hacksaw ( vertical cut) will do the trick - been there once and once was enough.

We dont have that problem here in Coventry. They wouldn't be on the car for more than ten mins before some low life nicked them!

The one's I bought did say use copper grease before putting them on - I, like most didn't read the instructions!

Oh yes.....
Pity you can’t fit sacrificial anodes to your alloy wheels

I bought a set of these dust caps from Halfords a year or so back. Cost £8 and look great - no logos though. Best of all, if you look closely, you can see they have a plastic insert for the threaded bit, so no problems with seizing up .
