Default Aircon Drivebelt not fitted.

Having recently bought my first R75,I have read through the owner's manual, and a previous owner has wrote in that the aircon drive belt has been disconnected because of a noisy bearing but also wrote that the aircon will work if new belt fitted.

Any thoughts??

Shaun..

Its normal to hear a differance.... Large noise can be regas required, compressor bearing, tensioner bearing or bottom pully on a diesel

If you want the air-conditioning to be fully functional, then have the entire system serviced by a quality air-con technician, the mobile type, but please avoid the likes of Kwik-Fit as they don't offer a full service, they just re-gas, which is fine if you have a fully functioning system which is in constant use, if not, then get a full service to include the correct oil for compressor, vacuuming for a good 30 minutes min, and correctly weight in refrigerant.

This is exactly what Kwik-Fit do.

They wouldn't be my first choice to repair (not regas) the system, though.

Shaun,

People disconnect their air conditioning for all sorts of reasons, so try not to think of the worst possible scenario. The first thing you should do is to fit the compressor drive belt, press the 'auto' button and see if the compressor engages. My guess is that it won't because the refrigerant will have been lost through a long period of complete inactivity. If I am right, you will need to get it recharged before you can diagnose any possible faults. That's when you need to report back to us.

Simon
