Default MG ZT rear wheel camber

I went over a speed bump a bit too fast a couple of weeks ago and since then there's been a noise from the rear nearside wheel. I thought it might be a wheel bearing but then noticed that the camber on the wheel is wrong.. badly wrong.. the bottom is sticking out maybe 1.5" more than the top! :-O

I have taken the wheel off to see if I could spot anything and I did see that the spring is broken near the top, however the ride height is still about the same as on the other side so presumably it's not that. Clearly I need to get a new pair of springs but what could be causing the camber problem? Is there a bush or arm that I will need to replace?

thankyou.

It sounds like the upper suspension arm has given up.

Thankyou, will do. Is that the most likely cause then, there's nothing else that could cause it? The wheel actually looks okay at the top, seems to be sticking out at the bottom (rather than in at the top). But maybe that's how it would look if this arm goes?

Actually, answered my own question.. i can see how the arm fits, and it is very rusty, so that would explain it.

I suggest you have a good look again, before ordering some bits. If the upper arm has collapsed it should be easier to see from behind, rather than the side - compare both sides. The offside wheel normally rubs the tyre against a welded in stud - taking the tyre with it when the upper arm goes.
Oh, change both if you're at it, see plenty of posts on this, one or two current.

Thanks, i think i should probably get the upper arms though, even if there is something else causing the camber, not that i want to spend more on this car at the moment, but the springs are definitely cracked and the arms are very rusty, so it seems to make sense while it is all apart to do them.

Not sure though if there are any other parts, bushes or whatever that should be renewed at the same time?..

There wont be anything else causing the negative camber issue, change the arms and all will be well, you should budget for changing the bearings in the top of the rear hubs while you are in there (Chances are they will have seen better days)

Ah cool ok, I have the rear hub bearings as I think they may be making noises too. Are the bearings you refer to something different from the main bearing in the hub?

I think trikey means the bushes for the suspension arms.
