Default Sound deadening

I'm not one of those people who likes to hear road noise, tyre roar or exhaust or engine noise.

Has anyone fitted any extra sound proofing material in their car, if so, has it made any appreciable difference, any disadvantages, where have you fitted it and would this be suitable?:

Some sound deadening was removed during project drive, perhaps you could retro fit if yours is a later car

Apart from the wheel arches, which are suggested in the ad, I'm struggling to think of where else this could go without the extra thickness causing problems regarding pedal travel, screw/bolt/stud lengths etc.
Can anyone suggest anything because I might seriously consider this myself.

I haven’t used the foam but I used a type of bituminous sticky back sheet. Made a massive difference to road noise and the sound quality from the speakers by putting it inside the door skins.

My pre-launch 75 had extra sound deadening fitted to the rear parcel shelf and inside the doors etc, a rush job for the press.... if that helps.
