Coilpack testing
Hi folks,how do i test the coilpacks off the car with a multimeter from 1.8 k series.looked on youtube and cannot make sense of it as they are all different ones.😕

All you can do is measure basic resistances of the low-voltage and high-voltage sections.
With an electrician's tester, you can possibly stress the insulation to 1kV. Problem is, neither of these 'static' tests will replicate the way that coilpacks tend to break down. So the best method is to swap packs and see if the fault follows the pack; or substitute with a known good one. Ive replaced a few K series coilpacks over the years, they all had good winding and insulation resistances - they only failed under real-world conditions. |
