Beware! Dust caps
Mrs P has a Skoda Fabia & a few weeks ago I saw some dust caps for the tyre valves with a tiny Skoda logo & they were cheap so I bought & fitted them. Today I decided to check tyre pressures & find two of them have seized solid on the valves. I have tried heat, Plus Gas & brute force to no avail. I am not sure what more to do apart from getting some new valves fitted. They seem to be made of some sort of alloy, I'll use plastic ones in the future

I've had that happen before, had to get one cut off and a new valve fitted. Luckily was getting tyres changed at the time anyway.

You have to bery careful with interaction of metals, particularly if salt and water are around. Boat propellors and drive shafts come to mind.

Did your brute force attempt include a wrench (spanner)?

BMW dustcaps
On my old BMW tourer i put metal bmw logo dust caps on all four wheels and they all seized on, had to use pliers to get them off.

Good quality mole grips and plus gas...been there so many times dismantling cars. The best type of mole grips for getting these off in my experience are Milwaukee torque lock mole grips, never failed me yet
Hope that helps Mick

I am a bit worried about twisting the rubber of the valve & there isn't enough of it to grip tightly, is there a danger of unseating it?
