speedometer fault
Speedo has started to rise slowly to 9/10 mph and no further and is slow to return to zero when car stops. Stripped hub and cleaned area on and around reluctor ring and abs sensor, no juddering at low brakeing speed to indicate abs fault any ideas where fault may lie

Do an ipk test to rule out a faulty speedo..

Turn ign on
Hold the trip reset button in until the display changes Press the button until you select 2.0 on the display the display will then change to 'on' 'off' When it says 'off' press the button again until the display reads 2.1 This will then test the ipk.

Dick, take a look at the plug on the ABS modulator, it's common to find the pins damaged or corroded........battery box out I'm afraid

As Brian said above check in the ABS ECU connector for corrosion.
I had one yesterday that was badly corroded and was causing an intermittent Speedo Russ

speedometer fault
Ran ipk test could only get to 2.0. However a test ran and showed all W/lights & fuel, temp, rev counter and speedo to be working. On going back to road test showed ABS light staying on and neither the speedo or mileage recorder working. Can I assume that the sensor needs to be replaced? Will check the condition of the plug on the ABS mod. Gives me an excuse to make & change the front brake pipes o joy, o bliss, o rapture. Cheers for the sugestions.

speedometer fault
Changed ABS sensor now W/light off but speedo fault still there. Will check plug on ABS unit tommorow. If I have to change Instrument pod is it a plug & play or does it need to be paired to car?

If after checking the ABS plug you find all is well, then if it's not the sensor in all probability it's the magnetic strip in the wheel bearing contaminated or worn.
