gear change problem
Hi members. I have a 1.8 petrol manual. 1 day everything was working as normal then next day i had a problem engaging gears. The clutch had not been slipping and suddenly it felt different, having to press it down to the floor to control forward and back motion. when the engine is switched off i can move through the gear change with no problem, but as soon as i start the car it becomes near impossible to engage a gear. It is drivable but with great difficulty to control normally. Can any of you good people out there give me any ideas of what has happened ?

Suspect a hydraulic problem rather than the clutch itself. Need to check the fluid level in the reservoir which is a real pain to do as the reservoir lives on top of the master cylinder above the clutch pedal.

Low fluid level.
Usually caused by a fluid leak in the master or slave cylinders. Could be a leak at the pipe junction point but not likely.-- |
